The first edition of the Stoholm Au2service Rally was the second event of the 2021 Danish Rally Championship. Nearly eighty crews from Denmark, Germany and Sweden tackled the eight demanding special stages with a total length of about seventy kilometres.
Kenneth Madsen and Mette Felthaus were quickest out of the box in their Suzuki Swift R+, beating their closest rivals Kristian Poulsen / Ole R. Frederiksen (VW Polo GTI R5) by six and a half seconds on the opening city stage. But Poulsen scored the next three stage victories, ending the first loop with a lead of more than 13 seconds over Madsen. The fight for third place is really close, with Martin and Dan Johannsen (Peugeot 208 T16 R5), Christian Kastberg Jensen / Freddy Pedersen (Citroën C3 Rally2), Simon Vallentin / Peter Egholm (Hyundai i20 R5) and Michael Sørensen / Erik Kristensen (Škoda Fabia R5) all covered by just four seconds.
Madsen won the SSS in Stoholm once more, narrowing the gap to the leader. And when Kristian Poulsen made a jump start on the penultimate stage, resulting in a penalty of 10 seconds, the tension really started to build up. Ahead of the final night stage, Kenneth Madsen was only 2,1 seconds off the lead.
But Poulsen and Frederiksen remained level-headed, won the final stage by three tenths of a second and therefore the second rally this year in as many starts.
Behind Madsen and Felthaus, the Johannsens took their well claimed spot on the rostrum.
Kenneth's sound brother Jacob Lund Madsen and codriver Line Nedergaard were quickest 2WD with a spectacular performance in their Suzuki Swift.
