Honda is preparing to update its US-spec CR-V compact crossover with 800 horsepower and a wing that would make an F1 car blush.

We currently only have access to the gallery of teaser images you can see above and the video trailer at the bottom of this page. The complete reveal is scheduled for February 28.

The Honda CR-V Hybrid Racer project, which is the brainchild of Honda Performance Development (HPD) and Auto Development Centre (ADC), also enlisted the help of designers from American Honda's North America Auto Design Division. To save (a lot) of time, let's call them NAADDAH.

Highlights include an aggressive aero kit, a racing steering wheel, more cooling vents, and an engine that doesn't look anything like the standard 2.0-liter engine you get in the UK.

If you pay close attention to the video below, you can hear that 800 horsepower makes a significant impact on noise levels at the 20-second mark.
