Porsche has revealed updated versions of the 911 GT3 Cup and GT3 R for 2026, featuring more power, smarter tech, and better handling to keep their racing legacy strong.

Porsche 911 gt3 cup gt3r 2026 update 5 1Porsche has revealed updated versions of its two flagship race cars, the 911 GT3 Cup and 911 GT3 R, for the 2026 season, focusing on better performance, easier handling, and lower running costs.

The 911 GT3 Cup, used in series like the Porsche Supercup and Carrera Cup GB, now delivers 10 more horsepower from its 4.0-liter flat-six engine thanks to new throttle valves and camshafts.

Despite the power bump, its 100-hour engine rebuild interval remains the same. A new clutch allows for higher revs at launch, while an automatic engine restart feature helps prevent stalling.

Porsche 911 gt3 cup gt3r 2026 update 2 1Porsche has also added Bosch ABS, improved the brakes, and updated the steering for better maneuverability. Cost-saving tweaks include a new three-piece front splitter, the removal of daytime running lights, and more recycled carbon parts.

The 911 GT3 R, aimed at endurance racing in IMSA, WEC, and the Nürburgring, keeps its 4.2-liter engine with up to 565 hp, but gains a new Gurney flap for added downforce and revised suspension for more predictable handling.

Porsche also upgraded the cooling systems, added stronger ceramic bearings, and improved brake ducting for long-distance races. Driver comfort sees a boost with improved cabin ventilation. For the first time, previously optional equipment like endurance and sensor packages is now standard.

Porsche 911 gt3 cup gt3r 2026 update 8 1Porsche hasn’t announced a full price for the new GT3 R, but will offer 60 upgrade kits for existing models at €41,500 plus tax. A development version of the updated car has already proven its potential with a second-place finish at the Spa 12 Hours.

These updates show Porsche’s continued commitment to motorsport, refining proven platforms to keep their customer teams competitive around the world.
